The Plant
Hapé is a plant spirit ally that has been used in sacred ceremony by many indigenous cultures of the Americas for thousands of years. It is a preparation of highly refined tobacco powder blended with other sacred medicinal plants, typically made with Nicotiana Rustica, also known as mapacho. This rainforest tobacco differs from the common tobacco found in mass-produced cigarettes.

Hapé is served by the facilitator using a special ceremonial blow pipe called a Tepi, one nostril at a time. When applied and served with intention and with respect for the tradition it is coming from, Hapé is beautiful cleansing medicine, bringing us into the present moment and into our bodies and spirit. It’s a wonderful way to begin the meditative and sensory experience of a sound bath!
